Thoughts for another day
Oct.
9, 2012.
Today's verse: Is.30:18. And therefore will
the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be
exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read
further. Thanks)
Because of our wanton disobedience to
God and His will for us, He is forced to chastise us; maybe by sending a trial
so we again turn to Him and do as He wills.
God does this, not because He delights in sending us tribulation as
retribution, but because He is concerned that we stray from the path which He
has, by His Own Sovereign Authority, adjudged as the path by which we can
adhere to eternity. God knows which road
is best for us in life as He knows our tomorrows from our todays and He can see
everything. It's akin to a parent seeing
his child walking on the treacherous path and sharply pushes the child away
from impending danger on that path.
That sharp pushing may hurt the child a little, but actually saves it
from danger. God is also like that; but
He will never push us so as
to break us and He knows what our breaking point is!
Even when we're tormented by the trials
He sends us, in our weariness and pain we may not even look at Him, but He is
waiting that He may be gracious to us.
He wants us to just take that little step toward Him and then He comes
forth, racing to us. For in the praise
of our lips which we freely give Him because we've received His mercies and
blessings, He is exalted and praised in the earth.
Sometimes in our acute pain, it becomes
really, really difficult to know that God really loves us for we see the
trouble we're in and wonder, 'If God really loves me, why does He send me
trials?' If we can wait awhile, even as
we turn from our disobedient ways and run to Him, we will see that He will
deliver us from evil and raise us on high for He is a God of judgment and while
His judgment decrees our punishment, His mercy takes hold of us and brings us
back to be united with Him and live in His bosom all our days.
