Thoughts for another day
August 10, 2012.
Today's verse: 1 Thess. 1:11. With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. (NIV – copyright acknowledged)

St. Paul's, prayer as it were, strikes a deep chord in those who understand their calling because the lives, we the called lead, is far from the life we need to lead; so when Paul prays that God may count us worthy of His calling, he's praying with a purpose having everlasting ramifications, not only for the one who's called but also for those who, because of our calling, are touched and blessed.
Further Paul prays that God, by His power may fulfill our every good purpose and every act of our precious faith we keep in Him, seeking to strengthen our calling, for many are called but few are found worthy. They who ignore are doomed for ruin as they didn't heed their call. Some don't understand the dimension of their calling and remain stunted in their faith as they aren't willing to let go and embrace what our Father in heaven gives in His great pleasure, having counted us worthy to call us to Himself. And every calling of God has an eternal purpose, not one by which we may make merry on earth to the exclusion of building up our souls to be eligible for eternal dwellings.
My friend if you've received God's calling in your life, don't doubt it for even a moment. How do you know if He has called you? Well, if your heart is stirred to faith in Him, realise that you're called and when you ascertain this, be aware that your calling is also to serve and then no matter what, be ready to go forth as He sends you to achieve His purpose on earth, for His purpose is noble and eternal. It's indeed a privilege to be called by God for you're then, a chosen vessel of His for great work that will pour out onto eternal life and though you may have thorns on earth because of His calling, know that the petals of His love will also cover you as you fulfill His will on earth.
