Thoughts for another day

Today's verse: 2 Kings 2:24. And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them. (KJV)

When we make God our Refuge and Stronghold, we can rest assured He will be there in every situation of life. He will be there when we walk in consonance with His plan and also when we err and make a detour. He will be there when things go alright or when life jarrs us so as to stun and defeat us. There's no time when the Lord will leave us; and He is there even when we don't sense His presence and are in extreme pain. Jesus promised this when He said, 'I AM with you always, yea, even to the end of age' (Mt. 28:20).
Now God was with His people even before New Testament times, particularly during the prophetic era. At the time of Elijah and Elisha, we see His awesome presence in both prophets who're zealous for Him and stand in utter loneliness before Him even as the whole of the kingdom has gone astray in worshipping false gods in their despicable ways, even to the extent of burning their children as sacrifice to their obnoxious gods.
Now God's Presence is a potent sign of His being with His people and He avenges the wrongs done to them. That's why Scripture says we must leave vengeance to the Lord (Pro. 20:22, Ro. 12:19); for He will deliver us in every situation. Our Word today is a simple, yet, powerful illustration of what God does for those who bear His Name and His prescription. Elisha was jeered and teased at and it must have been beyond a point which is why he cursed and Scripture says that immediately, two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of his tormentors. If God did that for Elisha, He will also repay our enemies appropriately. In the meantime, we must endure in Him and even pray for our enemies so that we're right in the sight of our Father in heaven.
