Thoughts for another day

Aug. 18, 2011

Today's verse: Ps. 34:18. The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

Sin in man is nothing new.  From the time God created Him, before any action of man, he sinned and the lure to sin is provided by the evil ancient serpent, the enemy of souls, who is still active and busy leading men to sin.  By sin, we are led away from God and into a place, where His fullness cannot reach us.

But the children of God prodded by the Holy Spirit, Who speaks to the spirit of man, are fed up of sin.  They are wholly ashamed of themselves and their sinful nature.  The Grace of God within their beings unfolds before them their dirt and makes them aware that the blood of the Lamb is there to make them clean.  It urges them to quickly wash themselves and be free of sin.  That's the time when a man gets down on his knees before God and pleads to be forgiven.  That is one of the best times in the life of a man when God's wholesome Presence becomes real in his life.

God is true to His Word and today's Scripture is indicative of what happens to a man whose spirit is contrite and whose heart is broken by the burden of sin that he carries.  God is close to him who comes before Him with a dejected and sorrowful heart and He listens to him and wipes the tears off his face.  God becomes a shield to him and his abundant Provider.  He looks after that man and always is by his side in rain and shine.  Isn't our God marvelous that our tears can move Him so?
