Today's verse: Nahum 1:7. The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. (KJV)

When trouble chooses to arrive at our doorstep and there's no place to run, then trust in God is the only thing we have to face the trouble and scorn it to its face. Ah now, this is easier said than done because when faced with trouble, leave alone displaying confidence in God, we're wracked to the marrow in pain and hope the night doesn't end and the new dawn doesn't come.
But today we have assurance in the Word of God, our guarantee in times of distress, that God is good and a Stronghold in the day of trouble; not only that He also is aware of those who trust Him, whose eyes are focused on Him and whose knees are bent to the earth. He is aware of the hope in their hearts however, weak and beaten it be. When the lady with the issue of blood bent down to touch the hem of Jesus' garment, He knew the pain in her heart. He only announced 'who touched Me' because He wanted to make her an example of faith to the others and reward the faith she exhibited against all odds. Thus the woman became a symbol of faith to both those who sympathized with her and to those who despised her. Imagine her joy when she went home that day, delighted to the innards with Jesus' Words. She would have gone to all her neighbors and proudly declared what our beautiful Lord did for her. We can rest assured that Jesus is also doing something right now which we will proudly declare tomorrow!
It may not surprise you to know that the woman's healing was decreed even before the world was formed. Only at the appropriate moment did that woman go through the faith exercise and get the healing from our LORD and Master. In our hearts too, a measure of faith and hope has been put even before the foundation of the world. If I am in any situation of discomfort, it has been decreed before there was anything and God's solution to that too has been written down and I know that He, the Lover of souls, knows my anguish and will redeem me soon. Yes, soon for that is His Word and I can depend on it.
