Thoughts for another day

February 7, 2011

Today's verse: Hosea 11:9. I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

Our God is a compassionate God, that's why it pains me to sin for He is merciful and I can see the fullness of His Grace upon me when I seek His pardon. Yes, truly by experience I can say, our God is merciful. He is there when we need Him; He is there to help and look after us in whatever situation we are in. He is there when we are in the midst of the storm. He is there in every facet of our life to guide and lead us into the cherished Kingdom He has prepared in advance for us.

Pause for a moment and think about the many times you sin. You know His Holy Spirit gently tells us to not go ahead with that thing but the carnal desires of our heart quell the silent whisper of our beautiful Holy Spirit and we go ahead and wantonly sin. Now as I have said before, sin is not only doing a small wrong like lying, to which most of us are immune it is also doing the bigger things like adultery, murder, etc. Even if we think we don't do all these things, we might even sin in not doing that which we are supposed to do like, give food to the hungry. So many times when we recall we will discover that we have sinned grievously at times. Similarly, the Israelites too sinned and they lend themselves to punishment.

See the mercy and love of God in our Scripture today: He says that He will not allow His fierce anger to burn them and He will not return to destroy. See if you will with the eyes of your heart the bold love of our God; how much He is hurt and suffers due to our sins and yet, doesn't have the heart to punish. Learn of His love and weep in silence for your sins. I tell you, it hurts our God tremendously for He is holy and hates sin, yet, He will embrace you when you repent.
