Thoughts for another day

June 23, 2010

Today's verse: Eze. 22:30. And I sought for a man among them that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

Where are the people who pray!!! I don’t know how strongly you believe in the power of prayer; but if you do, you’ll discover that the breed of ‘praying people’ is very small. I won’t be wrong in saying that the fastest dwindling ‘power resource’ on earth is nothing else but ‘prayer’. I say power resource, for prayer has tremendous power and it can move God’s hand in amazing ways. In the Bible we have so many examples of people who prayed and were able to move God’s heart and hand. It’s a fact that the kneeling Christian is the most powerful thing in the world for with his prayer, he can move God and with God all things are possible.

Look at our Scripture above; God was seeking someone to pray for the land so He wouldn’t be constrained to destroy it. Yet He found none standing in the gap! It’s a very sad reflection that we take resort to all kinds of things other than prayer when we fall into diverse afflictions, but never choose to bend our knees before the Almighty to whom all things are possible and who will do all things for us.

Now, God loves a person who prays for God see’s faith in that person. No one who has no faith can pray and no one who prays is devoid of faith. Only faith can lead to prayer and bring about mighty things by the hand of God. It’s not necessary for me to say that prayer doesn’t mean some vague mumbling. Rather, prayer is the song of the heavy heart and an affirmation that the person concerned is tuned to God. Any vain mumbling isn’t prayer and continuous chanting is no prayer at all. When the heart isn’t in the words, the words do not constitute prayer for it just cannot be prayer but meaningless gibberish. So when you pray, calm down first and then pray with your heart with the confidence that God will answer for God does and He rewards all those who come to Him with a sincere heart.
