Thoughts for another day

Jan. 26, 2010

Today's verse: Ps. 37:4. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

To most people, God is Someone available in the church. They probably know He is all powerful and omnipotent. They feel they must spend at least five minutes a week to pray to Him and their prayer is like muttering something before a statue – meaningless gibberish. Their lack of relationship and understanding of God is apparent in their body language and they show scant respect to Him and do not even know His will in their lives.

But, by His Grace, there are others who are aware of the things of God. These people know Him and aim to do His will. Yes it is difficult in most situations to do what He wills of us, but at least we try. Although trying per se is not enough, at least it is something He may accept for He knows our hearts well. It is said, if we take a few steps towards God, God will take giant strides toward us. And this is testified by the coming of Jesus on earth, leaving all His glory behind just because a few people were waiting eagerly for Him, Simon, in the Temple for instance.

The best of the lot are those people who know the Lord and fashion their lives according to His will. They delight in Him, and give Him the numero uno place in their lives. They sleep God, they walk God and breathe Him. Their entire lives are centered on Him and when such a thing is seen by God, He rewards them because He loves them dearly and wants to do the best for them and we notice that these people have peace in every situation. Yes, they have problems but since their confidence is in God, they tend to ignore their problems and they vanish. Such is our message is in today’s scripture. I urge you to consider the love of God in your lives and look at what He has done and you’ll have enough reasons to delight in Him and in return whatever you desire, you will get. Didn’t Peter get to walk on water if even for a few seconds?
