Have you felt the whiff of cool air as it brings in much needed showers on a hot summer afternoon? Have you tasted a small bit of bread after hours and days of not having had anything? Have you experienced the satisfaction of an intense need being met? My friend, Jesus Christ can give you this satisfaction and much more. Now is the time to bring Him into your life. Just say, 'Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Come into my life right now. Heal my sin. Heal everything.'

Thoughts for another day
Nov. 10, 2009
Today's verse: Jer. 49:19b. … for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me? (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)
Although the above verse is an indictment for Edom, there’s some learning for us too. God asks us something and we must decipher if we can and will, to know what it is. The verse has God telling us telling us two things. One, about His absolute sovereignty by which none can call Him to account and two, He dares any so called shepherd of His people to stand before Him.
Let’s take the first in which we learn God is the ultimate Sovereign. Hence, who can advise Him or tell Him what to do at which time. It’ll be as foolish as trying to stand in the path of rushing water and tell it to stop so you aren’t washed away. It’s like advising God the time to do a thing like a man praying to God at the start of the rainy season, asking Him to send the rains as that would be apt. Fools that we are, can’t we discern that God can change the seasons if He desires and none of us would know a thing? Sometimes, when I request God to do something, and tell Him that He better do it fast, I feel so stupid. I agree if I do that when in an intense communion with Him, (for even a woman with her lover will tell him something he already knows but yet he is pleased with her for telling him!) it may be okay. But when you don’t have fellowship with Him, can you instruct the ultimate Sovereign?
In the second there’s a warning to those who lead God’s people in some way. God is completely at liberty to choose who He wants for which of His appointed shepherds can stand against Him or threaten Him for taking that position away. God had enough reason to be mad at the shepherds in Bible times and He has enough reason to be mad at them now for the flock has strayed. Even now, God warns the shepherds that their time for removal has come and which of them can refuse?
Friend, it’s enough for us to know we need to understand God and His sovereignty and worship Him accordingly. Whenever you feel His presence, let your footwear automatically be removed for that is Holy ground you stand on and someday, the God of all things will be pleased to welcome you in His Kingdom.
