Thoughts for another day

July 20, 2009

Today's verse: Is 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

There is something about the Lord that conveys strength and may I add, unending and unyielding strength. Strength is a characteristic of various dimensions and is an essential ingredient to victory. A person may have physical strength not it doesn’t avail much; rather strength of character goes a long way.

The prima facie charter for a person ingrained in the Lord is victory. Not a facile one though but a convincing victory and a deep one at that. And the Lord is also indulging us in victories in fields we’ve never known to be common to us, such as victory over our carnal selves or victory over our bad habits. Both are victories which are very hard to come by, try and see. Yet in the eyes of the world, a victory in a game or a sport is victory. A good rank in an exam is a victory. But, a victory where a person converts and becomes someone noble is no victory at all in the eyes of the world, where money matters. But for us who are in the Lord, these victories are empty and not worth it.

Now when we wait upon the Lord, He gives us the strength to soar. No matter how bad we’re off, or how tired we are, God alone can give us the victory. He fills our limbs with strength, when we are weak. The Word of God says that we who wait upon the Lord will mount up with wings as of eagles. No matter what we do we shall not be weary and neither shall we faint for He who is our Rock is tireless and has no weakness.
