Have you felt the whiff of cool air as it brings in much needed showers on a hot summer afternoon? Have you tasted a small bit of bread after hours and days of not having had anything? Have you experienced the satisfaction of an intense need being met? My friend, Jesus Christ can give you this satisfaction and much more. Now is the time to bring Him into your life. Just say, 'Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Come into my life right now. Heal my sin. Heal everything.'

Thoughts for another day
August 7, 2008
Today's verse: Hab. 3:17 - 19. Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)
When I read the above verse, a deep sense of awe fills my heart for it evokes in me the comfort of trusting my Lord. At the same time, it makes me despise myself too, because of the times I didn’t rejoice in Him when things didn’t go right.
In Habakkuk’s prophetical book, we find Habakkuk questioning God. Rather strange, because, man is in no position to question his Maker for he doesn’t have anything that may even compare to the super intelligence of God. Even then, God answers and reassures him. Habakkuk in response, sings Him an eulogy from which is today’s reflection. What’s striking is the utter confidence the prophet has in Him. Though years have gone by, God even today, reassures us softly in our hearts, of His presence and His graciousness. When we listen to His voice carefully, we come to understand the worth of His promises.
Like the prophet says, ‘although the fig tree not blossom, neither fruit be in the vines, or whatever wrong happen, he will rejoice in the Lord and joy in God’s salvation. So too, I pray, man trust God fully. This much I can tell you, mere trust in God is enough to lift our drooping spirits and cheer us in the worst situations. Remaining in the aura of God and trusting in His mighty strength can do wonders for us.
I’ve heard as well as seen God’s awesomeness in things He does for us. Bankrupt people have regained their riches, those terminally ill have leapt out of their beds and thrown away their support implements. Sinners have turned a new leaf and humans have found joy that bubbles ceaselessly from within. Such is our God and with Him comes the assurance of a full life. He has promised this and He will keep His promise, come what may. Therefore, I too declare that no matter what happens, I will joy in the Lord for He is my strength and the Rock of my salvation.
