Thoughts for another day

Today's verse: Mt. 7.7. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)
As I was about to write this reflection, verses came into my mind, springing from something I read, but quickly I told the Lord, that today, we His people, needed a promise to strengthen our day. So, the first thing that sprang into my mind was the above, the most simple yet the most dynamic of the promises that Jesus gave us.
Sadly, there has been much ado about this promise (as well as others of course) with preachers and teachers adding this and that as a precursor or a suffix. Like once a preacher told me, ‘you must seek the kingdom of God to be eligible for this promise!’ Well, all that they have said is well meaning and within the limits of their understanding. But let me tell you, God attaches no riders to His promises, which means they remain unconditional!!!
You may ask me, how then do we not get what we ask? Because, in our ‘humanness’ we fail to understand God and His ways. It is a matter of great sorrow for me to know that we aren’t clued to God’s specter. Not knowing Him, we live outside of it and that is why God’s promises remain outside of our domain. You know, the first and foremost thing to do to get to live in God’s domain is to get to know Him. Funny but true, we want His miracles, but we do not want to know Him. How can someone you don’t know give you something you want? Alas, we don’t have time for God. I spend hours watching television or reading the newspapers on holidays, but for God, well, I don’t have time. It is crass that I take time out for God of my sleeping time, and in that, I go to sleep with the excuse, ‘Lord, You know how sleepy I am!’
My friend, I tell you, get to know God. What you have asked (and at times, even what you have not) you will get. Miracles will happen right before your eyes and people will wonder, what’s your secret. Then tell them about Jesus and this business of knowing Him. Thus you will give Him the glory and He will be pleased with you. And by the way, it still is and will remain…Ask and you will receive…so go ahead and just ask.
Have you felt the whiff of cool air as it brings in much needed showers on a hot summer afternoon? Have you tasted a small bit of bread after hours and days of not having had anything? Have you experienced the satisfaction of an intense need being met? My friend, Jesus Christ can give you this satisfaction and much more. Now is the time to bring Him into your life. Just say, 'Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Come into my life right now. Heal my sin. Heal everything.'
