Thoughts for another day

April 7, 2008

Today's verse: 1 Kg. 8:28. Yet have thou respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer, which thy servant prayeth before thee today: (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

I was singing a hymn today. Then this thought came to my mind, ‘what am I singing and to whom?’ Frankly, I couldn’t answer because while my lips were moving and my vocal cords were sounding but there was never ‘me’ into it.

Thinking further I wondered, how many times, have I prayed without really being into it. How much have I mumbled without as much as a bit of heart in it? And then the Lord put it into my heart while I was thinking all this, ‘What is the destination of your prayer?

So strange all this seems but how deep. Imagine the Lord saying; what is the destination of your prayer. Thinking about it now strikes me that if I have not recd. from the Lord after I have prayed, then one of the reasons is that the destination of my prayer has never been the Lord. It’s like you know, I have poured milk into the cup but I never bothered to see whether it fell into it or not and so it all spilled onto the floor. Then when I took the cup, it was empty for nothing fell into it.

My friend, if you are reading this with care, think about it. There are so many things we need to do while praying. As the days go by, we shall look at these aspects. Because my heart tells me that the Mighty Hand of the Lord is poised to bring major upheaval in the earth. Mountains will be torn down, citadels will crash. Countries will vanish and there will be major chaos. Pray my friend that in all this, God’s people sail through without so much as a scratch. In fact if you know anything of prayer, start praying now. And chiefly let your prayer be that God gets glory in all this and the Name of His Son, Jesus Christ, echoes in all the earth as Lord, God and Savior.
