Thoughts for another day

Mar. 5, 2008

Today's verse: Ps 73:26. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

Here is scripture that one can take and live a whole life forever on just this promise that God is the strength of the heart. The psalmist confesses that his flesh and heart have failed which means; both his body and mind have succumbed to weakness. Don’t we at times feel spent and completely tired? Don’t we yearn for that strength in our bones, which will make us rise up and move forward in confidence? Yes, there are occasions when what we really long for, is a freedom from our very own lives, because life becomes too much of a burden to live!

There are times we sit back and reflect on the days gone by when we were younger and in a position to bear the assault on both body and mind. These were sort of challenges and we faced them fair and square. But then they continued, so much so that the bed became our constant companion and terror reigned on the mind as to what will happen now. In this situation Jesus says, ‘Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light’ Mt 11:28-30.

My friend, recall this verse today when you are spent and finished. Remember, when God is the strength of your heart and your forever portion, there is no tiredness that can make its home in you. There is no hurt that can embed itself inside you. Life will be changed by the Risen Lord and you will find enabling strength when you bear His yoke by which you will soar like an eagle, for His wind will be the force that keeps you going and it will never cease.
