Thoughts for another day
Feb. 6, 2008
Today's verse: Dt. 32:5. They have acted corruptly toward him; to their shame they are no longer his children, but a warped and crooked generation. (NIV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)
O human being, see what you have done to your God. How much you have pained Him, who has died for you. Think about His love and His graciousness. Reflect on the joy He’s put into your heart and know that His heart yearns for you. Yet, tell Me, nay, rather tell yourself, what have you done for Me.
You take Him to be an obligation and an unnecessary chore midst the busy setting of life. You look at Him as a distraction amid the immorality you engage in. He is but a pain when you indulge in the darkness this world loves to live in and you willingly partake of. And then you say that your God does not respond to your prayer. Ah, yes, not forgetting the many gods who have gained attention of your mind and whom you value more than Him.
My friend, this is what God is putting in my mind today as He addresses me. The very words that Moses put in his praise song, because of the way the people treated God then. That was ages ago, but even now I see myself in the ‘they’. Haven’t I gone about and done all sorts of things that I cannot even mention when I look Him eye to eye. Somebody once said, your thoughts should be such that if they could be projected on a screen, would you place the screen before the people you move with? I wouldn’t for my thoughts are corrupt.
But, I look then upon the blood stained face of my Savior Jesus and I behold His eyes. They talk to me about His love and His mercy. He tells me that, He has made me and every believer a kingdom and priests. He tells me, He has wiped my shame and replaced it with His own glory. He has heaped glory into my account. Of my sins He says, He has cast them at the bottom of the ocean and He also tells me ‘Get into a new beginning’. I am very seriously considering His proposal. Will you too join me?
Have you felt the whiff of cool air as it brings in much needed showers on a hot summer afternoon? Have you tasted a small bit of bread after hours and days of not having had anything? Have you experienced the satisfaction of an intense need being met? My friend, Jesus Christ can give you this satisfaction and much more. Now is the time to bring Him into your life. Just say, 'Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Come into my life right now. Heal my sin. Heal everything.'
