Thoughts for another day

Dec. 31, 2007

Today's verse: Eccl. 5:4. When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

End of the year, time to make those noble resolutions and then throughout the year break them, one by one and then tell everyone how you had made the resolutions and then failed to keep them. Some even go to the extent of telling people how hard they tried, etc. Sounds familiar? Yes, we all have grandiose plans each yearend of making the year that comes a great year. Unfortunately, our plans do not keep pace with our imaginations.

But for us, the children of the Most High, we being the people of hope, each year is a challenge that God invites us to in being the people of His Promise. The great thing about having our God with us is that when we make a resolution and offer it up to Him, it is He who helps us keep it. No matter what the resolution, He is able to ensure that we keep it. Our confidence has to be in Him, for in Him alone all things are possible.

When you make a resolution this year, sit before the Lord for a while and tell Him about the resolution and why it is necessary for you to keep it. He will guide your path and lead you on the way and give you a firm spirit with which you will be able to keep your resolution. Pray for strength and an extra portion of His Grace so that you may be able to face the pressures of life in every way. Also, when you resolve tell Him that you will keep the promise. And as the verse above says, do not hesitate in keeping it. Only on your knees let Him know that you require the strength to keep it and He will clothe you with the required strength.
