Thoughts for another day

February 21, 2007

Today's verse: Ps. 36:9. For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light. (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)

If you know God, I mean you really know God – which is if you have felt His presence and have absolutely no shred of doubt of His existence – then things of God will come to be etched in your mind and heart in an indelible manner. They will remind you of Him, I say remind not the way we humans remember a person in his absence, for God is never absent but though ever present is not seen, and therefore they will bring into focus God’s loving hand upon your life.

Things, which stand out the most amongst His many traits, are His love and mercy. When God wants to nudge you gently with His love, His Spirit sends a slight shiver up your spine; an excitement grips you inside and a warmth envelopes you. When God’s mercy pours itself on you, tears roll down as His Spirit makes you realize how wicked you have been to Him and how undeserving you are. Listen my friend to the tears of the woman in Luke’s Gospel 7:36-50. They speak of His love. Zacchaeus’s fluttering heart gushed with paeans of wondrous mercy as Jesus told him, ‘This day I must abide at thy house’. And so will your heart be plunged into joy at the touch of His hand.

Today’s verse, is an exultant proclamation from a man who experienced God the most: David, who, calling himself the servant of the Lord, exclaims and affirms God as the fount of life; in Whose brightness our darkness vanishes. Indeed God is the source of life and its abundance too. If you need to lead a fulfilling life, you need God because only He can give you a full life. Your mind may be clouded with sorrow and tension with not a ray of hope but as you come into His light your darkness vanishes. The little hassles in life hardly matter as they are swept away by His abundance. Reflect on it today and live it, life will be transformed.
