Thoughts for another day

Today's verse: 1 Cor. 9:16. …woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! (KJV)
(Pls. read the above before you read further. Thanks)
Yesterday, I happened to read a true story of a little crippled boy called Tommy. Now this boy could barely walk and was glued to his little bed near a window in a one-room apartment of his old aunt. He once discovered Jesus and he wanted to spread Jesus’ way of going about doing good. How? He wondered till God gave him the thought of writing a verse on a plain piece of paper and dropping it down the window.
So very painfully, even getting up was a tough thing for him and writing even tougher, he wrote letter by letter and after finishing, sent the piece of paper hurtling down the third floor window. And as they fell down, many read and benefited from the Bible verses. A rich man once read Tommy’s verse and was wonderfully saved and he wanted to take Tommy to his palatial home and care for Him. But Tommy wouldn’t go because the man’s home was in the countryside and although it had windows, there was hardly anybody walking under them for Tommy’s work to be useful. So Tommy declined the rich man’s offer and continued to evangelise beside his window.
My friend, what does this story tell us? How do you read, ‘Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.’ Does it tell you anything about what you should do or rather what you are supposed to do? You know when I read this story (url: http://www.tommyswindow.com/story_tommy.htm) I felt ashamed. I looked at the sky and I wondered, ‘Lord there are so many shining stars out there who shine so brightly. Why do you choose such dirt like me?’ Really, what do we do? Imagine, what a little boy like Tommy can do for Christ? And when I think of the number of excuses I give when I am asked to spread His Gospel…I just feel like disappearing into thin air.
Oh Lord, I pray, give us the strength and the zeal to spread Your Word. Perhaps, not like some of those big preachers but like Tommy. A wee bit, a day. And Lord, let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on earth, the way it is in heaven. And above all Lord, let all come to know Jesus and take Him as their Savior. In His Name. Amen.
Have you felt the whiff of cool air as it brings in much needed showers on a hot summer afternoon? Have you tasted a small bit of bread after hours and days of not having had anything? Have you experienced the satisfaction of an intense need being met? My friend, Jesus Christ can give you this satisfaction and much more. Now is the time to bring Him into your life. Just say, 'Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Come into my life right now. Heal my sin. Heal everything.'
