Thoughts for another day

November 16, 2006

Today's verse: 2 Pet. 3:8. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. (KJV)

Time. One thing we are ever short of and has always eluded us and escaped like water through our fingers. We are pained for time and are its slaves too. We want every thing to happen now. We go to God with the same condition…please Lord, now!

But God has His time. There is a beautiful song: ‘In His time…He makes all things beautiful in His time…’ God in His time works out things that are simply superb. You see the wonderful world that He has created; He took time to create it as we see in Genesis. We may never know why, because He just needs to speak and it comes to be. It could perhaps be because He needs us to understand this concept. Unlike us, God never has any time constraints as His Word says today.

I want you to know my beloved that though you might be severely afflicted and pitted against time, don’t be vexed for God is in control and time is in His hand. If the doctor says you have just two months to live, scorn it, for He who has made time will have another say if you believe. In my own life as to my calling, I have come to understand His way of time. I know because I have spiritually seen the Ministry God has given to me. Yet, when I look at what is happening today, I wonder and tell myself, ‘if for the greatest of them, it has taken a lifetime to accomplish the little they have, how much time will it take me to achieve what the Lord has ordained for me; and do I have that much time on earth?

Then I am led to the above verse and I gently smile for I know that the Lord of time is the One who accomplishes all things in His time. He packs in the ingredients of our days and weeks and years. In Him if we trust, there is no question of not accomplishing anything. You may feel that time is running out but then He can re-create things. Abraham must have surely felt awful at age ninety to have no child and ever more so at age ninety-nine and then…Isaac was born when he was hundred years of age! So don’t fret my friend and bother not about time for the One who created it is the Lord of time. And behold, He is your friend.
