Thoughts for another day

October 24, 2006

Today's verse: Is. 30:18. And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will He be exalted, that He may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for Him. (KJV)

When I consider the nature of my Father in heaven, I can’t but think of His Blessed face on which is the look of such warmth that I can just relax in it. In His heart is such love that I can just be washed in it and feel so happy.

There are times when I sin, yet even then, He waits that I rise from the filth and look at His face and turn back to Him. I am reminded of a song by Ralph Carmichael written in 1958 which goes like this:

1. The Savior is waiting to enter your heart, Why don't you let Him come in?
There's nothing in this world to keep you apart. What is your answer to Him?
Verse: Time after time He has waited before, And now he is waiting again.
To see if you’re willing to open the door: Oh, how He wants to come in.

2. If you’ll take one step toward the Savior, my friend, You’ll find His arms open wide
Receive Him and all of your darkness will end, within your heart He’ll abide.

Isn’t it good my beloved in Christ that He waits for us? He yearns for us. Sometimes in the evening when I sit with Him having begun my communion late, He gently tells me how much He has waited for me. Truly it is a shame that I have time for everything except Him. Behold my friend, those eyes that look at me and then turn them up to heaven and cry, ‘Father forgive for he does not know what he does.’ What more could He have done for me; even His life He gave up for my sake.

Truly, we believe in a God who is blessed and glorious. Truly, He understands us well. Truly He comes to us in the dark of the night and gently sits besides us; communing with us and giving us strength. And believe me, if you wait for Him my friend, by Heaven’s domain you will be blessed.
