Thoughts for another day

October 19, 2006

Today's verse: Mt. 11:28. Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (KJV)

Conditions in life many a times leave us tired and weary. There are so many tensions and worries. Hard work at home. Endless work at office. Chaotic traffic and animal box transport facilities! Enough to drain out the best of us. My friends, believe me there are so many out there and many of you too who are heavy laden and burdened. And this labor isn’t necessarily carrying of big burdens on the back but the mind, laboring on basic issues such as, what will we do this month there’s only this much left…

When Jesus was here as a human, He noticed all these troubles of people and He had compassion. The Bible says, ‘when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion on them because they fainted, and were scattered abroad as sheep without a shepherd.’ My beloved in Christ, He understood the pain of being human. The pain of, being crushed, because of sin. The pain of, not being with God. He knew the only solution was Himself. Therefore, in a moment of truth, He looked at us and uttered the words of today’s verse. To tell you and me that when the loads of life are too heavy to bear, we must step up to Him.

Alas, too often we knock at every other door but the door of the Son of Man. And then we cry and tell, ‘The Lord does not answer prayer.’ There are some of us who call out to the Lord in desperation but receive no answer and that is because we don’t trust that He will help and therefore we have a standby ready. We have well camouflaged our lack of trust by saying that, God will help but we also need to take the help of man after all God made others to help us too, no? That’s the deceit the devil puts in our heart for he knows well that more and more of our focus will go to seeking man’s help and soon we will forget about Him. And in this world the devil has succeeded tremendously, perhaps in your life too. My friend, if today the Lord is putting in your heart the message of today’s verse, turn your face to Him and promise Him, ‘Lord, enough have I run to others now Lord, let me look only at You.’
