Thoughts for another day
June 27, 2006
Today's verse: 2 Cor. 6:16 b. I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. (KJV).
Do you know where God dwells? Not very far, but with you and in you for He says I will dwell in them. For you as a child of God, no matter what you are, where you are or for that matter, what your belief system is, the biggest consolation is: God is close at hand. As Paul says in the Acts of Apostles, ‘that they would search for God and perhaps grope for him and find him--though indeed he is not far from each one of us. For 'In him we live and move and have our being' Acts 17:27,28.
My friend, in good or bad in times glad or sad, He, the King of the Universe is at hand. When you do good, He is watching; when bad too, He sees you. There is no escaping His eyes. In fact David says in Ps. 139, ‘If I go to the bottom of the ocean too Your eyes behold me!’ And for most of us God’s Omnipresence is the panacea we long for. Knowledge that the Supreme Almighty God is by our side, nay rather, within us, can be powerful for they say knowledge is power. For when He is there, who can dare to inflict pain on you? Who, can dare to subject you to terror? None.
You might tell me, but even then brother, there are people suffering and are subject to torture though they believe in God. To them I’ll say, fret not nor lose your hope for He The Guardian of Israel is going to extract an account of every harm the evil one does to you His child who trusts Him. As for you, He is testing you. Not for any other reason but because He loves you (Heb. 12:6). For it is only when you are tried in the furnace of life that you will come forth like pure gold. And think not that this is for you alone; He made His only begotten Son go through it. Tell me, what was the reason for Jesus to suffer the way He did. But again the Word of God says, ‘Son though He was, He learned obedience from what He suffered!’ (Heb. 5:8)
My beloved in God, know that your Father loves you above all and He suffered for your sake and He is there at hand. Remember, even if the whole world is against you, He is with you and He will deliver. Trust Him.
Have you felt the whiff of cool air as it brings in much needed showers on a hot summer afternoon? Have you tasted a small bit of bread after hours and days of not having had anything? Have you experienced the satisfaction of an intense need being met? My friend, Jesus Christ can give you this satisfaction and much more. Now is the time to bring Him into your life. Just say, 'Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Come into my life right now. Heal my sin. Heal everything.'
